How to Style the Fake Fur Leopard Coat Without Looking „Too Much“

 

Styling the leopard print is not an easy task – so is styling a fake fur coat. Double the challenge if you want to style a fake fur leopard coat! However, I accepted this challenge when I received this beautiful, super fluffy leopard coat from French Connection. Putting it on for the first time and looking into the mirror, my initial thoughts directly went to „Omg, that is just too much!“ – so I had to put it away again and think carefully about how to create a look with this coat that would not make you think of – let’s say – a certain kind of industry. 

How do I combine the leopard print coat?

Very important if you want to keep it casual – stay away from leather, shiny stuff & super tight clothes. For the look I am sharing with you today, I decided to wear distressed Mom Jeans and a loose knit – in bright colors. So the material, as well as the choice of colors, really do make a difference here. Dark colors like black would create a strong contrast to the jacket, making the look probably more bold than you want for a day out. On the other hand, if you want to create a look for the night with our furry leopard friend, you could actually dare to combine it with a pair of black leather leggings… because what could be „too much“ for the day, might not be „too much“ for the night out!

What about Hair and Make-Up?

I knew that I would face a another „too much“ problem because of my curly hair. Big hair and a leopard coat?  – Looks like Im taking the whole animal-print-style a little too seriously. So in order to not look like a real lion, I decided to take a little volume out of my hair and go with a rather wavy hairstyle. Super straight hair or a high pony tail – with some delicate golden hoops – would also look cool I think. Make-up wise I usually would have chosen a more nude look, but since I kept everything in neutral colors I decided to take a little risk and go with dark red lips… after all, leopard print and red lips are a pretty classic combination.
