Christmas Time in Copenhagen – Loads of Lights and Hygge

Kronprinsensgade Copenhagen

I moved to Copenhagen this summer – as I was enjoying the long and bright days, I was already scared of the cold and dark days to come in winter. Everyone was like Yea, soak up the sun as long as you can – the darkness is going to be here sooner than you think. I am a very outgoing person and waking up to sunshine gives me new energy for the day. So, how am I supposed to make it through the winter?

Well, winter has arrived and as usual, it turned out that people simply looveee to exaggerate. Yes, the days are short – 2pm in the afternoon feels like 5pm in the evening – and yes, temperatures are around freezing point. But, hasn’t winter always been like that? Being a little bit more up north does not make that much of a difference. Before ending up in a pointless winter depression,  we have to realize  that real warmth comes from people, not from the weather.  So guys, get cozy with the people you care, turn on some pretty lights and candles or cook together a nice meal.

I love how cities make winter time somehow magical. Christmas and the whole story that surrounds it has probably just been invented to get us through the winter. And it certainly works. The only thing that pulls me out of my comfy apartment are the beautiful Christmas lights and markets… and the smell of caramelized almonds. So good.

Wanting to capture some of the magical Christmas time in copenhagen, me and Rebekah went out to Kronprinsengade and Illum Rooftop to shoot this cozy outfit that also has some nice, sparkly elements. It’s just great how Christmas approves wearing glittery stuff, therefore I put on some big earrings and my new cute burgundy-glittery bag from Radley London. Oh, and of course I had to create a matching make-up look with loads of highlighter and glossy lips.
